Hello, hello! I’m so happy to see you here today! I hope your week is going great so far. We actually have some beautiful sunshine today after cloudy days. It is getting frosty in the mornings but as long as it’s sunny I can handle it. How is it in your area?
We have two winners of the Autumn Give Away! Let’s give them a big hand!
Colleen P. and Mindy T. are now the proud recipients of Annie’s Favorite Quilts From Precuts. They now have 28 new time-saving quilt projects to add to their collection. One fun fact about these two ladies – they are mother and daughter! The daughter has been quilting and sewing for many years and mom has just started her quilting journey. How exciting is that.
Many thanks to Annie’s Catalog for making this give away possible. Thank you every one for participating in the give away. Sign up for our email to stay in the know for the next give away!
The new LodgePole Quilting Shop is up and running. You can purchase the Shades of Winter Quilt in four different sizes: lap, twin, queen and king. The quilt is custom-made so it does take about 4-6 weeks from start to finish (including shipping time). If you want to order this quilt as a gift for Christmas you will want to order it by the end of October to ensure it arrives before Christmas.
You can also now purchase the Stars Americana Quilt pattern in either digital or paper. This is a great quilt, only 40″ x 40″, which makes it perfect for a table topper or a wall hanging.
This quilt pattern is rich in detailed instructions and colored images to guide any quilter, whether they are a novice quilter or an advanced quilter.
Check out the store often and look for more new items to appear.
Happy Wednesday to all of you wonderful people! I hope your week is going well so far. It has been a whirl-wind around here. My husband got home last Wednesday and from that moment on it was go, go, go!
We got everything ready to travel and left Friday night at 2am. We went to my sister and brother-in-laws’ house in Kalama, Washington. We arrived around 2pm and after about a half an hour of visiting, Colleen and I went shopping, for fabric of course! You can never have too much fabric. She has just started her first quilt. She finally got all of the fabric cut. I took my Accuquilt Go! Cutter and a few dies to show her how much easier it is to cut fabric. She is now budgeting for one for herself! (I should be a spokesperson for them! I love my Go! Cutter!)
We went to JoAnn Fabric and Craft store and enjoyed their 75th Anniversary sale. I picked up some gorgeous purple and teal fabric. I will be making myself a lap quilt. I gave my baby sister, Laura, the one I had made last December. I have several quilt designs waiting to be made. I just have to make a decision on which one to make!
Her favorite colors are purples and green. Mine are purples. I like some greens but tend to lean to the teals. I thought this would be a nice gift since she sits and is in a wheel chair all of the time due to M.S.. When I am sitting on the couch in the fall and winter, I enjoy a lap quilt.
She really liked it! I am glad I gave it to her. She was very excited to see all of the purple and greens The backing is dark green with green leaves. It is a real nice lap quilt and I know she will get a lot of use out of it this fall and winter.
It was a crazy four days on the road visiting family and friends. We did take Monty with us. He got to play with a couple of dogs and see lots of people, but I am sure he is happy to be home and just being a lazy dog. We were going to take another day in visiting but Wes had to go back to work a day earlier. So we visited with my best friend, Mary, for a bit of time and then hit the road. We finally got home Tuesday around 2:30am. I am just glad we got home safely.
I am super excited because I finally got my email containing the instructions for my first BOM from Jacquelynne Steves Save the Bees. I actually got it last week, but tomorrow I get to work on it and I will post photos as I go along so you can see what I am doing. If you haven’t signed up for the BOM, I think you can still do so. Just go to her website, www.jacquelynnesteve.com.
Now that my sweet husband is back on the road (sigh, sniff, sniff) it’s time to clean house and get dirty clothes in the washer. It always takes me a couple of days to get the house back in order after he leaves. This time it’s compounded with our time away. So before I can play in the quilt room I have to do my chores. I can’t wait to start my BOM and my new lap quilt so I gotta do the chores first.
I will be having another giveaway. So stay updated by signing up for email notifications. The giveaway will be starting soon. It’s going to be great! I hope you all will enter the giveaway!
Greetings all new visitors and friends! I am so excited to announce the winner of the Quilts You Can Make In A Day (electronic book) giveaway! (Thank you, Annie’s Catalog, for making this giveaway possible!)
Drum roll please!………..
Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your book! There is a lot of fun and great quilts projects inside of it.
Please look for an email from me (email@example.com) containing your electronic download.
A big THANK YOU! to everyone who entered the giveaway! There will be another giveaway next month, so keep in the know by signing up for email updates!
Greeting everyone! A BIG HELLO! to all you visitors! I’m happy that you all have taken the time to stop by tonight! I’m calling this night Saturday Night Fever! because it’s hot, hot, hot! It’s so hot I feel like I have a fever…. I think this calls for ice cream!
I haven’t written for a couple of weeks due to being busy, busy, busy. My husband, Wes, was home for about a week, that was so wonderful, even if my back was acting up and he hurt his hand doing, I don’t know what he was doing, something. He left just a couple of days before Independence Day.
I designed and made a Stars Americana quilt after he left. So that took a little time. Here are a couple of pictures…

I used fat quarters I purchased from Connecting Threads, Patriotic Picnic and Glory Days collections.
I really like the combination of the two collections. It gave the quilt a vintage look. All of the various prints worked well together. The blocks used are Sawtooth Star and Hourglass Star #2. These blocks were cut using my Accuquilt Go Cutter and dies. I used some left-over solid dark navy fabric for the backing and I had some blue-grey solid fabric from the place mats I made. It’s only 40 inches x 40 inches square, so it makes a great wall hanging or as you can see, a table topper.
Even though Independence Day has passed, the quilt looks great on my old sewing machine table. It’s a nice way to display it.
My garden is doing great. We finally got the sunshine we needed, however, someone could turn down the heat a bit. This over 90 degrees a day stuff is just a bit much. I got some great pictures. My tomatoes are loaded with blossoms and my bush beans have little baby green beans!

I did a trial run with the new pressure cooker/canner today. I thought I had pulled enough carrots to fill two pint jars but I could only fill one jar. So….. I went through the process and pressure cooked one pint of carrots. Everything worked great!
How cute is that?! It’s now sitting in the pantry behind closed doors. I have more carrots to pull and can, as well as beets. I look forward to getting the green beans canned as well as the peppers and chilies (when they are ready) and the tomatoes.
So while I am waiting for my veggies to get ready to be picked, pulled and plucked, I am working on a few WIPS. I am also waiting to start my Save-the-Bees BOM from Jacquelynne Steves. I have my fabric and thread. I am just waiting for the first block pattern to come out. It’s super cute and I believe you can still sign up for the BOM. Just click on the link and join the fun! It’s ice cream time now, or perhaps it’s time for me to stick my head in the freezer… boy it’s hot! So I hope everyone has a great week-end, wherever you are! Stay cool!
Hey there everyone! Welcome to all of you new visitors! I am glad you are here today. There are some fun things I want to share with you. So read on and see what’s happening!
I got all of my orders for the reusable dry sweeper pads completed and sent away. After crocheting steadily for over a week my hands were quite numb and painful due to carpal tunnel syndrome. So I had to let them rest and do exercises. That meant no sewing, fabric cutting, blogging, crocheting or any other thing that would bring about more aggravation. Bummer. But they are feeling better now and I did get to do a little quilting these past couple of days.
My garden is abundant in lettuce, carrots, radishes, beets, spinach and more. I have eaten salads every day. I blanched spinach to freeze. I cut beet greens and cooked them with smoked turkey bacon and other yummy things. The beets aren’t ready to pick yet but I am ready to can them. I have my pressure cooker/canner and spices for pickling! My tomatoes and green beans are ready to bloom. Now if the weather will cooperate and give us some needed sun instead of clouds and rain, that would be helpful.

My dear husband is on his way home. He will be here early tomorrow morning, just in time to take me to the dentist to have oral surgery. At least this time I won’t be alone while dealing with the pain. He will be able to take care of Monty dog while I recover.
Speaking of my husband, he is so wonderful. He ordered me a new sewing table that will help with my back trouble. The table is adjustable so it should help me to be able to sew with minimal pain. He will also raise my cutting table while he is home. He is the best!
Now, I want to share with you a special project. This project will also include a GIVEAWAY!
Annie’s Catalog has given me a free copy of “Quilts You Can Make In A Day” to sample and share a project. So I chose Summer Seas Mats. This project is two place mats and hot mat made with fat quarters.
This is an ideal project to use some of your favorite fat quarters and have a set of really nice place mats with coordinating hot mat.
The designer used batiks for her fabric. I chose a couple of novelty fabrics with coordinating cotton solids.
Here are a couple of pictures:
I really like the sea shell novelty fabric I picked out for this project. I used a dark orange mottled fabric as well as three different blue/gray fabrics. Many thanks to my friend and neighbor Joyce. She helped me to coordinate those pesky blue/gray colors.
This was a super easy project. But all of the projects in this book are pretty easy. There may be a few intermediate ones, but since you are suppose be able to make any thing in this book in a day, they aren’t that complicated at all. I have a few more projects I have printed out to make from this book. When I get them made I will post pictures of them so you can see what I made.
One of the tools I used in the project is my binding tool I bought. It’s made by Fons and Porter. Let me tell you, my binding comes out right every time I use it! (This tool can be purchased at most fabric and craft stores.)
Now here is the fun part…..
