Monday, already!

Welcome to LodgePole Quilting! Feel free to browse around. If you are new here be sure to sign up for the newsletter. I just started writing a monthly newsletter so you don’t want to miss it. There is also a store for shopping. Be sure to check it out frequently as I will be adding new products often.

Now, did you know it was Monday already? I am trying to figure out what happened to the week-end! Of course I have been busy cleaning the house and doing more organizing in the sewing room. My husband is on his way home after having been on the road for over four weeks. I can hardly wait. Won’t he be surprised to see I even re-organized both deep freezers. Brrrr.

Sharing some Monday humor. I saw this on FaceBook so I “stole” it. It was too funny to pass up.

I had my fabric scraps and remnants just thrown in a couple of totes and a couple of 5 gallon pails. YIKES! It was a nightmare whenever I started another project, trying find coordinating fabric. Now it’s so much nicer. I put my large pieces of fabric (1 yard or more) neatly folded into the large totes and my scraps are sorted now by color groups.

Fabric scraps separated by color groups on the right and neatly labeled. Jelly rolls, patterns and kits on the left, also labeled.

I have been working on my hand applique/embroidery aspect of the Little Bit of Baltimore (Jacquelynne Steves). It’s coming along quite nicely. I like the texture of the embroidery on the applique. Here are a couple of pictures…

I also received my monthly Sew Sampler last week. I cannot wait to dive into it. I took a couple of pictures so you can see what comes in the kit. It’s always something different. This time I got a jelly roll, a cool ruler (BasicX), labels, pre-made quilt hanger pocket (3 yds) and more. Take a look! Each box is themed and the fabric is always great whether it’s fat quarters, charms, mini’s, or jelly rolls. You can sign up for your monthly box at Fatquarter Shop.

That’s about all I have for now. I did “transfer” one of my quilt designs that was on paper to my EQ8 (Electric Quilt 8) program. Can I say I love my EQ8? I really do. It’s always a learning experience every time I design in it. By the time I got the quilt pattern (Peaceful) into the program I wasn’t feeling very peaceful. But I have to say the end product came out perfect. Once I get this quilt made I will add the pattern to the store so you will be able to make your own “Peaceful” quilt.

Colleen P. and Mindy T. are now the proud recipients of Annie’s Favorite Quilts From Precuts.  They now have 28 new time-saving quilt projects to add to their collection. One fun fact about these two ladies – they are mother and daughter! The daughter has been quilting and sewing for many years and mom has just started her quilting journey. How exciting is that.

The new LodgePole Quilting Shop is up and running. You can purchase the Shades of Winter Quilt in four different sizes: lap, twin, queen and king. The quilt is custom-made so it does take about 4-6 weeks from start to finish (including shipping time). If you want to order this quilt as a gift for Christmas you will want to order it by the end of October to ensure it arrives before Christmas.

You can also now purchase the Stars Americana Quilt pattern in either digital or paper. This is a great quilt, only 40″ x 40″, which makes it perfect for a table topper or a wall hanging.

This quilt pattern is rich in detailed instructions and colored images to guide any quilter, whether they are a novice quilter or an advanced quilter.

Check out the store often and look for more new items to appear.

I have been making some changes here and I hope you take the time to check them out, especially the new store.

There is only one item listed in the store, but I hope to have more things listed in it by the end of the week. I am going to have some of my favorite quilt patterns for sell. So, stop by and see if there is anything you want to purchase.

MyBluprint.com

Speaking of quilt patterns for sell, I have designed a place mat, Taste of Montana, using appliqued pieces. I am having so much fun with applique that I’m afraid everything I’ve been currently making has applique.

I used my Electric Quilt 8 program to design the place mat and Accuquilt Go! Northwoods Medley die to cut out the moose and bear pieces.

I Love EQ!

This is just a picture of one of the place mats, I haven’t put the binding on it yet, but it is quilted.

I have been playing around with different fmq (free motion quilting) patterns on this one. It’s been fun and as always a learning experience.

I have also designed a couple more place mats, Shades of Autumn and Christmas Times. Look for these place mat patterns to make their appearance in the LodgePole Quilting Store, soon.

If at any time you click on a link and it doesn’t work, please let me know. What with all of the changes I’ve been making I’m sure there might be one or two links that might have dropped.

Be sure to check back soon and see what’s new here at LodgePole Quilting!

2018-Block-of-the-Month-Save-the-Bees-Jacquelynne-Steves

Have you signed up for Jacquelynne Steves’ Save the Bees BOM yet? There is still time! This is a FREE BOM, and who doesn’t love FREE! You can make these super cute blocks from your scraps or go out and buy more fabric! Quilters always need fabric (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge!)

I have just completed Block 3. It was a real easy block to make. I used Soft Fuse interfacing webbing for my hexies and then used a simple zigzag stitch to applique them to my background.

Here is a picture of the three blocks I have completed so far

This is the first BOM I have ever done so it has been a lot of fun. Everyone posts their completed blocks on Facebook so we all get to see the different variations. So sign up for the BOM today, if you haven’t done so already!

In between waiting for the next block to download I have been working on about three or so projects. Ok, I have about 6 projects lined up, three I am currently working on simultaneously and half a dozen UFOs.

I Design in EQ8
One of the quilts I am working on is a lap quilt (for myself). But, if it turns out as lovely as I hope it will it may end up being a wall hanging. It will have five blocks of embroidery with four Nine Patch blocks. A total of nine 15 inch blocks. I am using Emma’s Garden by Maywood Studios. I purchased this gorgeous fabric from FatQuarterShop.  I love pansies and the color purple and this fabric is perfect with my embroidery blocks which are made of pansies and butterflies.

20180903_155923
Embroidered block for new quilt project

Once I have my embroidery blocks and nine patch blocks compete and the quilt top together I will finish the embroidery trim by hand as part of the quilting process. I am still deciding on what I will do for the rest of the quilting. But it will definitely  pretty when it’s finished. I will post a photo of the completed quilt. (I purchased the embroidery block kit from JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts.)

The other project I am also currently working on is called Little Bit of Baltimore Collection 21. It is a small quilt with four blocks of applique. I got the pattern from Jacquelynne Steves website.

I really like these colors I’ve chosen for this project. They are kind of muted so the 33 inch quilt can be for many purposes. I have some left over thin loft batting that I think I am going to use. That should allow the quilt to hang nicely over a small table. There is also a candle mat and a small wall hanging that is a part of this collection.

And I am STILL working on my summer quilt which will now have to be for next summer. I know, I know, I need to focus on one project at a time and complete it before starting on another. But there are so many awesome projects out there that need to be made not to mention all of the block and quilt designs running through my mind. Also, Christmas is just around the corner and I still have to finish those projects… At least I am never bored.

I think we are all caught up now. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your day with me. I hope the rest of your week goes well.

Until next time – What are you working on today?
