Pink Lemonade Quilt – Part 2

Greetings visitors and fellow quilters! I am so glad you could stop by today and see how things are progressing with the Pink Lemonade Quilt Pattern I received for free (to showcase on my blog) from Annie’s Catalog.

There has been some great progress made. I have to say I really like easy to make quilts and this is definitely one that falls into that category. When I first look at a quilt pattern I am not always sure just how things will work out. But this one is really straight-forward. I like to make a sample block just to see how the pieces fit together. Here is a picture of the one I made for this quilt.

I really like how the colors work together, even that solid tan/stone color. There is enough neutral tones in the various fabrics to pull the solid color in.

Once I have made the sample block, I then like set up an assembly line, of sorts. Since this block is basically made up of three parts, I did the top section first. Then I put the two “side” sections together. Once those two were completed I joined the top with the bottom.

It only took me a few hours to make all twenty blocks. They went together real nice. Each block is 10 1/2 inches square and I did use my 10 1/2 inch square ruler to square up any block that didn’t conform. I am happy to say they all conformed!

Next step was placing the blocks, according to the pattern, on my design wall (old vinyl tablecloth with felt side out) to see how they will look.

Can I say I LIKE it? I really do. I think the interplay of the colors and designs of the fabrics are perfect. Who knew it would look so good? Sorry it’s not a better picture. But when I get the top completed I will take a picture of it outside.

Now it is time to join the blocks, add the three different borders and then the top will be complete. Next will be the quilt sandwich, quilting and then binding. Then the Pink Lemonade will be done.
